Sport: Right Put; Wrong Time

Enormous Al Blozis (Georgetown) holds the world's indoor shot-put record (57 ft. ¼ in.). But enormous Jack Torrance (former Louisiana cop) is holder of the outdoor record (57 ft. 1 in.).

At Madison Square Garden's Knights of Columbus meet last week, Blozis tucked his event away with a so-so put. A photographer pleaded for just one more, for a picture. Blozis obliged. That shot lit 57 ft. 9½ in. away—the greatest put ever made; didn't count.
