Canada: EXTERNAL AFFAIRS: Arms for Peace

For the January issue of the National Home Monthly (circ. 340,000) a U.S. military expert has written a simple prescription for Canadian peace. Says the New York Times's Hanson Baldwin: "Canada must arm."

That is just what Canadian cabinet ministers and diplomats have said again & again, but seldom as effectively, after pondering Canada's (and North America's) strategic position in the age of long-range bombers, rocket-firing submarines and atomic warheads. To be prepared for "the only possible enemy—Communist Russia," says Baldwin, Canada should give "complete and entire cooperation" to Britain and the U.S....
