Mildred Didrikson Zaharias, long No. 1 U.S. tomboy, is always looking for new worlds to conquer. Before she had completely established her title as the greatest woman athlete in history, she set two records in the 1932 Olympics. Once she scored 106 points in a basketball game. In the past two years, she has won every top golf title open to an amateur except the U.S. Women's Open, and she has won her last 17 tournaments in a row.
