¶ Manhattan's drama critics named the season's best new play (Arthur Miller's All My Sons) and best new musical (Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's Brigadoon).
¶ The American Academy of Arts & Letters conferred its Good Speech Medal on Alfred Lunt (whose co-star wife, Lynn Fontanne, won the medal in 1935).
¶ The Drama League of New York gave Ingrid Bergman a medal for the season's "most distinguished performance" in Maxwell Anderson's Joan of Lorraine.
