Last week the Senate:
¶ Confirmed Oscar L. Chapman as Under Secretary of the Interior.
¶ Approved a conference report on a $250,000,000 emergency housing authorization.
¶ Completed Congressional action on a $3,347,000 deficiency appropriation (second this year) to tide over Government agencies which have already spent their funds for the fiscal year.
The House:
¶ Sent to the White House legislation to award special medals to General of the Army George C. Marshall and Fleet Admiral Ernest J. King for their direction of the Army and Navy in World War II.
¶ Passed a bill “deeming” the husbandry of fur-bearing animals “an agricultural pursuit,” but not until Illinois’ Adolph J. Sabath and Georgia’s Gene Cox had engaged in a colloquy to establish whether Henry Wallace is 1) a sparrow, 2) a dunce, 3) a capable and able gentleman.
