The War Production Board's latest munitions figures turned out to have been colored by WPB's rosy glasses. After bragging that total July munitions production was up 3% and aircraft up 4%, WPB spokesmen conceded a few days later that:
> The July aircraft figure was 12% behind schedule.
> The year's goal of $65 billion in arms (already trimmed from earlier WPB promises of $75 billion) will probably not be met.
