In Michigan, four-term Congressman Bartel J. Jonkman (pronounced Yonkman) was defeated in the week's biggest upset. A bitter-end G.O.P. isolationist who liked to refer to ERP as "Burp," Jonkman had always received most of the Dutch vote in the fifth district's "Little Netherlands." This year he did not bother to do much campaigning. His opponent, Gerald R. Ford Jr., 35, did.
