Insatiably, professionally curious Dr. George Gallup wanted to know what his fellow Americans believe about God, immortality and going to church. Last week he reported: 96% say they believe in God, 76% in life after death. But when it came to churchgoing, 42% admitted they had not been to church in the past month.
