Fort Dix's nearness to New York and New Jersey metropolitan areas encourages departing soldiers to telephone last goodbys to friends and families. Some of them undoubtedly let slip the place and time of their departure. Last week Dix's public phone booths bore a terse legend: "Temporarily out of order, by order of C.O."
