Last week in Milan was buried Marina Beghe, 93, whose house for many years sheltered an energetic young priest named Achille Ratti, her nephew. Last week Achille Ratti, now 74, mourned his aunt. He had not left Rome since he became Pius XI in 1922, and the day of his aunt's burial was the day he had chosen to issue his second encyclical in this year of Depression.
