Education: Oil-Savers

>Amherst, Williams, Middlebury and several other New England colleges, delighted to have a pretext (gas-saving for defense) to do something they wanted to do anyway, laid down a new rule for their undergraduates: no cars at college this semester.

>In Manhattan, Mayor Fiorello La-Guardia pondered a fuel-saving proposal by oil dealers: let the city's schools run a longer school day so that they may shut down for longer Christmas and Easter vacations.
