Coolidge Plumbing
By unanimous vote the city council of Northampton, Mass, last week passed an ordinance for the relief of Grace Coolidge, rewriting section twelve of Northampton’s sanitary code to read “Waterclosets may be provided with local vents. . . . The local vent shall be optional and not obligatory.” Result: The high-class, ultramodern, ventless, streamlined, pastel-tinted water closets in Mrs. Calvin Coolidge’s new $25,000 home (TIME, June 13) were legally put in commission.
