First State wedding in Massachusetts history, surrounded by the pomp & panoply of a royal nuptial, the ceremony was witnessed by 3,000 persons including twelve blushing policemen in hired cutaways, striped trousers, silk hats, ascot ties, grey spats and puce-colored vests.
