In last week's Liberty Charles Stevenson, United Pressman in Washington, had an article entitled "Congress Cashes In," in which notorious Capitol extravagances were rehashed (TIME, May 30; Aug. 29). Tucked away in the text was passing reference to the fact that the Senate supplied its financial clerk with an automobile. Taking personal offense, Charles F. Pace, the Senate's veteran financial clerk, picked up his automatic pistol one morning last week, marched up to the Senate Press Gallery, demanded to see Stevenson.
