C=CHILE
A contract to build the first subway on the West coast of South America was secured, last week, by Don Luis Lagar-rigue, potent Chilean engineer. For the sum of $2,200,000 he will lay 30 blocks of subway under Santiago’s famed avenue, the Alameda de las Delicias.
“We shall employ a double-track system, each track in a separate tunnel,” said Don Luis. “Then there will be no possibility of a complete tie-up of the service, even should a train be wrecked.”
