Archbishop's Eyesore
Peering out of Lambeth Palace, where he lives, the Archbishop of Canterbury used to see "the cheapest and ugliest bridge across the Thames."
Something more expensive has now been built. New Lambeth Bridge cost $2,700,000 spans the Thames with five graceful arches, outside stone, inside steel. Last week, escorted by the Horse Guard, Their Majesties drove to New Lambeth Bridge, ably opened it.
