At Wilmington, Mass., Walter Melinsky hopped about, gesticulated with his fingers, tried to attract the attention of a crowd of bathers. When bystanders finally realized the cause of his .antics it was too late to save his drowned companion, like himself a deaf mute, for whom he was summoning aid.
