Tommy Creavy, 17-year-old assistant professional at Mamaroneck, N. Y., recently a caddy, beat Golfer Johnny Farrell, open champion, in a 19 hole match in the quarter-finals of the Metropolitan Professional Championship. Gene Sarazen won the tournament.
Denying reports of imminent nuptials, Professional-Tennis-Player Suzanne Lenglen announced that she had finished her career as a tournament tennis player. Said she: “I shall never play tennis again, either as an amateur or a professional. … I shall continue to play the game for my amusement.”
One Joe (“Lefty”) Drugmond of the Charleroi Club of the Middle Atlantic League pitched in 45 games during the 1928 season; of these he won 24, eight of which were games of one to nine extra innings.
