The Chase National Bank of Manhattan last week announced that its total assets had just surpassed $1,000,000,000. The figures were $1,042,513,993, of which $919,608,525 were deposits. The only other U. S. billion-dollar bank is the National City Bank of Manhattan whose financial statement published last week showed assets at $1,537,421,958, deposits being $1,199,973,178.
