By 189 to 30 votes the Federal Assembly elected Ernest Chuard of Lausanne, Vice President for 1923, President of the Swiss Confederation for 1924 in succession to Karl Scheurer of Berne, whose term of office expires Dec. 31 and who is not eligible for reelection until the expiration of another year. Jean Musy of Fribourg was elected Vice President.
