The Treaty of Arbitration between the U. S. and Portugal was renewed for five years.
A feature of the new agreement is that if the U. S. joins the Permanent International Court of Justice, the two Governments will consider making a new agreement, under the terms of which they will refer all disputes governed by the Treaty to that court. In the last three months the U. S. has renewed similar treaties with France, Great Britain, Japan.
