SWITZERLAND: Abating Waters

On July 27, 1632, a considerable part of Monte Pozzolo shot with considerable and sudden velocity to the peaceful valley below, carrying with it Antronapiana, Swiss hamlet. The slide also dammed the valley stream and soon there arose the lake of Antrona. Last week, the waters of the lake subsided, uncovered some of the remains of the old village (there is a new one) of Antronapiana.
