For the first time, mail and freight from Berlin reached Manhattan in less than five days: messages of goodwill, a tabloid edition of the VÖssische Zeitung, a sack of 1,000 toys for Wanamaker's famed department store, a walking doll for Major Frank M. Kennedy's little daughter.
