Both divisions (Lagting and 0delsting) of the Norwegian Parliament (Storting) passed by a small majority a bill to abolish prohibition of heavy wines. The measure received the sanction of the King.

At the last meeting of the Parliament the Government was advised by the unanimous vote of the members to conclude a commercial treaty with Portugal on the basis of free importation of wines into Norway.

Previous to this measure lifting the ban off heavy wines the sale of liquor containing more than a 12% alcoholic content was forbidden by law. The reason...
