FRANCE: Lost?

Senator Villaine drew the attention of the Senate to a curious mystery and demanded an investigation.

It appears that at the time of the 1918 armistice the Allies forced Germany to hand over $62,158,000 which she had extracted from Russia after the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. This sum was deposited in the Bank of France, but Senator Villaine says no trace of this money can be found in the public accounts or in the Government's cash books.
