Archival of the Fittest

With so many reissues out, are there any sets still worth boxing? Answer: yes

As the CD era draws to a close, record labels are trying to squeeze the last few coins out of the format. Classic and not-so-classic albums are getting ultra-deluxe expanded reissues; moribund chunks of back catalogs are being repurposed into "complete recordings" bundles. And the last few major artists whose vaults hadn't already been thoroughly plundered are becoming the subjects of box sets and "lost" live albums, most on the presumption that for some reason they didn't release the good stuff the first time around. (Sometimes that's even true!) Here are four of this summer's best archival releases.
