Jocks may be playing in the NCAA tournament, but nerds are the ones profiting from it.

Caring about college sports seems a lot to ask of a person who is not currently in college. Am I supposed to also care about college students' midterm grades and if their punch has enough Everclear? And even if I did care, there are way too many colleges to possibly keep track of--plus, they make up extra ones just for basketball. I have never heard the statement "The Nobel is being shared by professors from Valparaiso, Creighton and Gonzaga."

But as a beta male, I was always bullied into filling out an NCAA bracket in TIME's office pool. Later, some alpha...
