Joe Simon, 98, co-creator of Captain America in the year before the U.S. entered World War II; Simon was also the first editor of Timely Comics, which evolved into Marvel Comics.

Bettye Danoff, 88, who along with Babe Didrikson Zaharias and 11 others founded the LPGA in 1950; she played golf from the age of 6 until she was a grandmother.
