Tom Bosley, a TV fixture as the paterfamilias on Happy Days, died Oct. 19 at 83. He was the kind of TV dad who made you feel as if he could be–in some way, as if he were–your dad. His Howard Cunningham could be gruff and cranky, but there was something inherently fatherly and comforting about that rich voice and rumpled dignity.
