For “Mirroring Evil: Nazi Imagery/Recent Art,” New York City’s Jewish Museum added two explanatory videos and warning signs to works by 13 post-Holocaust artists. But there were still protests over the apparent glibness of such pieces as a Lego Auschwitz set, an Hermes gift canister of gas (gift is German for poison) and, above, Enfants Gates (Spoiled Children). If nothing else, the show embodies the ever thinning membrane between the appealing and the appalling. –By Belinda Luscombe
