Macedonia's Interior Minister Ljube Boskovski

Confusion still surrounds the circumstances in which Macedonian police killed seven foreigners in fields near Skopje on 2 March. The government alleged that those killed were Islamic extremists but failed to offer conclusive evidence, even though Interior Minister Ljube Boskovski promised the Macedonian parliament on 5 March that the police would make public detailed information on the case.

Boskovski himself contributed to the controversy over the case, first claiming that the men were driving a van, but later saying that they were, in fact, walking and carrying weapons and uniforms of the officially disbanded ethnic Albanian National Liberation Army (UCK) on their backs.
