Werner Herzog would make a great subject for a Werner Herzog documentary. The director is an adventurer of outsize ambitions and eccentric appetites. In 1974 he walked more than 800 km, from Munich to Paris, to visit the ailing 78-year-old film historian Lotte Eisner, in the belief that his pilgrimage would have curative powers.
