You'll find old-style elegance together with modern amenities at the five-star Country Club Lima Hotel. Built in the 1920s, the hotel is located in the bustling San Isidro financial district, although from the inside it's hard to tell. The hotel overlooks the district's urban golf course, while towering trees on the grounds preserve a tranquil air of days gone by. Relax with a cocktail in the patio bar, and you'll find yourself daydreaming of men in tails and women with parasols strolling back from a day on the links. While it sprawls over an extensive property, the Country Club has just 83 suites, making service much more personal. The hotel was completely renovated in 2008, conserving its charm but subtly improving on its finer details.

Room to Book: Guests recommend the presidential suite for its colonial decor and huge terrace with views of the golf course greens.

Insider Tip: This hotel makes a fantastic pisco sour, the drink of choice in Peru. Sip one at the patio bar.
