Ringleaders Myles and Smart, holed up with three other cons behind steel-barred doors overlooking the cell block, twice nicked a Guard lieutenant leading a bazooka attack on their lair. When the smoke cleared, they were both found dead. Examining the bodies, Warden Powell decided that Myles had been shot in the head by Friend Smart, who then put the rifle to his own chin, pulled the trigger. Said Warden Powell: "Things are going to get a lot tougher around here."
