That was Cameron in 2008, two years before he took office, describing the pragmatic approach that has helped the Conservative leader maintain a coalition with Liberal Democrats despite their angst over cuts to public spending and his party's angst over compromise. His poll ratings aren't great, but he doesn't have to face parliamentary elections until 2015.
