Dutch Duo for YSL
To create buzz for its Fall/Winter collection in 2011, the house of Yves Saint Laurent turned to Dutch fashion photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, who have created some of the most iconic advertising campaigns of the past 25 years. The nearly four minute video begins with breathing sounds that devolve into electronica music. A woman walks slowly down a twisting staircase, and at each step, the film cuts to a different outfit, alternated with a very skimpy bathing suit. The video was filmed in iconic black and white; so to know what colors YSL used that year, you had to see the show.
