Hipster Ariel
Hipster Ariel wanted to be part of our world before it was cool. The Disney princess, complete with a hipster makeover, took Tumblr by storm this February in a meme that proved even Disney characters can mock the heck out of hipsters. The meme began with the original hipster, Ariel from The Little Mermaid. After all, she lived under the sea before it was cool in a place you've never heard of and claims she got legs just so she could wear skinny jeans. And, she has the ultimate hipster street cred: her dad owns Pitchfork — a riff off the famed indie music website. But like anything deemed cool by hipsters, it was only a matter of time before the masses caught on. Soon, Snow White, Pocahontas and Belle were all donning black, thick-rimmed glasses and spouting off phrases promoting their uniqueness, too.
