Gay-Marriage Movement Makes History in New York

NEW YORK — A participant in a gay-pride parade poses a question to her state in June: "Will you marry me?" That month, New York became the sixth state to say "yes." Legislators voted to legalize same-sex marriage, and Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the bill into law, making New York the largest state where gay and lesbian residents can now tie the knot.
