Harsh Words in Wisconsin

MADISON, WIS. — Unions and newly elected Republican governors faced off all year, from Florida to Ohio. But the most high-profile showdown took place beginning in February in Wisconsin, where protesters occupied the state capitol for weeks — and then slept outside when police forced them from the building. Governor Scott Walker was pushing a bill that would restrict collective-bargaining rights for many workers, in an attempt to address budget woes — and this sign sums up how many union members felt about the legislation. (It was eventually signed into law.) The sign is also notable for its versatility: one can assert that any person or thing eats puppies and have the message come across loud and clear.
