The "I Love My Hair" Muppet

"I really love my haiiiirr! There's nothing else that can compare!" That's the refrain of this Sesame Street Muppet, who can't get enough of her curly, course and highly adaptable tresses. The character was created in 2010 by the show's lead writer, Joey Mazzarino, after he and his wife noticed their daughter Segi, who was adopted from Ethiopia, began saying negative things about her locks. Mazzarino said he noticed the comments when Segi started playing with Barbies — a toy that although it has evolved over the years to include a wider range of ethnic groups, including African American and Latino dolls, has kept the hair styles mostly straight. As a result, some girls find it hard to accept that their thick, curly and dark hair is just as great as straight and blond. "I just want kids to know their hair is beautiful," Mazzarino said at the time. Just try not feeling better about your 'do after watching this video.
