Mark Stone

London's streets weren't technically a war zone, but in some areas they might as well have been. This didn't bother Sky News reporter Mark Stone, whose Afghan reporting chops emboldened him to stay well within the danger zone. As reports of attacks on journalists spread, Stone roamed the streets taking video and interviewing rioters. Stone captured one particularly memorable encounter in South London outside an electrical store being smashed and raided by hooded youths. "I'm astounded at what you're doing," he told one rioter who responded, "We're getting our taxes back." The intrepid journalist has caught more than the rioters' attention — columnist Bryony Gordon published a love letter to Stone in the Telegraph, saying the "chiseled god of news" makes "Buzz Lightyear look like Postman Pat."
