Glenn Mulcaire

Private Investigator

One of the first figures to serve jail time in the phone hacking scandal, Mulcaire admitted in 2007 to unlawfully intercepting voicemail messages that had been left for three royal aides (Mulcaire was working with Goodman and on an annual contract for the News of the World). The private investigator also hacked the phones of a host of public figures, including model Elle Macpherson, actor Steve Coogan and soccer player Ryan Giggs. But the most shocking accusations against the private investigator didn't emerge until July 2011, when it was alleged that he had hacked into murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler's cell phone. He is also suspected of obtaining the phone numbers of relatives of service personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
