Royal Collection Wedding China

Apparently there are people who want to eat off plates that celebrate someone else's special occasion. Such is the logic behind the official set of royal-wedding fine bone china. Launched by the Royal Collection, the body that oversees the Windsors' stash of art, it includes a pillbox ($40), a tankard ($56) and an 8-in. (20 cm) plate ($65). The range is decorated with a pattern of doves, white ribbons and hearts in silver, gold and gray, all set against a pale slate striped background. According to the official royal-wedding website, each dish is "individually decorated with several layers of burnished gold and platinum" before an artisan applies a final layer of 22-karat gilding by hand. Designers were careful not to place the couple's first initials — W for William, C for Catherine — next to each other. Few things are less regal than toilet humor at the dinner table.
