Part of Senator Claire McCaskill's appeal on Twitter is her willingness to get personal. One of the more frequent political tweeters, the Missouri lawmaker gives regular updates on her day-to-day routine, be it meeting with constituents or icing cupcakes with her daughters. McCaskill once divulged that she'd been absent from Twitter because of "difficult family issues." It's that candor that reminds followers that politicians aren't the bitterly partisan figures they seem on television all the time, but actual human beings as well.
