Beyond keeping her followers up to date on the legislative agenda, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi has used Twitter to break real news too. Three days after losing control of the House — and her Speakership — in the 2010 midterms, Pelosi used the social-media device to declare her intention to run for her current position. "Driven by the urgency of creating jobs & protecting #hcr, #wsr, Social Security & Medicare, I am running for Dem Leader," Pelosi tweeted on Nov. 5, 2010. On Nov. 17, Pelosi was elected to that post by the Democratic House caucus.
