DealBook

No one wakes up earlier than the team at DealBook, and their efforts before most people have had any caffeine make it hard not to visit the site (if just to scan the headlines) every morning. In addition to the site, you can sign up for a 5 a.m. e-mailed newsletter that does one of the best jobs of providing a comprehensive look at the most important stories of the day, gathering everything you need to know from the major news outlets.

Takeover and special-situation coverage is a strength and the newly expanded team (which includes coup hires from the Wall Street Journal like Susanne Craig and Peter Lattman, whose departures surprised many and apparently did not make the rival paper very happy) has been steadily increasing the original reporting out of the 'Book. Contributors like the Deal Professor and ProPublica's Jesse Eisinger make the Times' blog a great place for thoughtful, in-depth analysis. In fact, some might go so far as to say DealBook is unquestionably the world's second best finance site that begins with the word deal.
