WalletPop

As a fellow blogger, you have to admire WalletPop just for its volume of posts. The site is packed with consumer advice, and that's why WalletPop, which launched in 2008, has quickly become one of the most popular personal-finance sites on the Web. Recent posts include tips on household expenses you can do without (air purifier), where to shop for a wedding dress (Costco) and video on whether cats or dogs are the more economical pets (cats). Even if you plan to ignore its advice, reading the site will give you a better sense of where exactly our money goes. I now know that the average woman spends $517 a year on eyebrow maintenance. I still don't think I will buy tweezers for my wife's next birthday, but it's good to know.
