Berlusconi and the Podium, 2008

It may have been one of the more appropriate ways to toast gaffe-prone President George W. Bush. In 2008, at a state dinner for Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, the boisterous Italian leader was in the middle of praising the President when, on his way to embrace him, the Prime Minister knocked over part of the lectern and broke it. But no matter. He continued speaking out of the microphones that were attached to the podium's top half. "This is what too much love can do," the Prime Minister joked.
