Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, 2008-2010
George W. Bush wouldn't talk to him, but Larry King did. In 2008, the typically celebrity-heavy host sat down with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was in the U.S. to address the United Nations. King asked him about nuclear weapons, Iraq, Israel, and Sarah Palin, as well as some of his controversial comments. The answers weren't exactly illuminating. Ahmadinejad, calm and assured throughout, insisted his nation was all about "peace." The following summer, after Ahmadinejad was declared the winner of a presidential election that many deemed rigged, Iranians took to the streets in protests that turned deadly. Ahmadinejad appeared on Larry King Live again in 2009 and 2010. Perhaps the only thing more disturbing and off-putting than Ahmadinejad himself is the translator’s voice during this interview.
