Highs: For all the talk of showbiz having no interest in actresses over the age of 40, Betty White showed how an octogenarian can amp up her star power and become a pop culture phenomenon. From Snickers commercials to the MTV Movie Awards, it seemed White was everywhere this year. At 88-years-young, the sprightly White started 2010 by accepting the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Screen Actors Guild awards on January 23 with a hilarious and endearing speech. After hundreds of thousands of Facebook fans signed an online petition lobbying on White's behalf, the actress-comedienne hosted Saturday Night Live in May and nabbed an Emmy Award three months later for her appearance. The former Golden Girl also showed she still had her golden touch with a new television series, Hot in Cleveland, which became the most watched program in TV Land's history.
Lows: Despite the fanfare that followed her, Betty White's summer movie, You Again, hardly made a dent at the box office, and reviewers hated it, too. In June, White lost friend and former co-star Rue McClanahan, making her the only remaining golden girl of the famous quartet.
